During the summer transfer window, Chelsea allegedly expects to receive offers for Conor Gallagher that are less than their asking price.

Gallagher has established himself as one of Mauricio Pochettino‘s main players this season, as evidenced by his number of games and seniority—the midfielder has frequently worn the captain’s armband.

Gallagher has appeared in 34 starts and 4 substitute appearances overall across all competitions; the most recent was on Sunday when Chelsea defeated Leicester City to go to the FA Cup semi finals.

It is well known, though, that co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are willing to take a profit on the academy graduate if the right offer comes along.

With fewer than 18 months left on his deal, Gallagher is seen as a valuable asset who can help Chelsea raise the kind of money needed to quickly move toward meeting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability requirements.

Gallagher would much like to stay at Stamford Bridge and sign a new deal, but that is uncertain as long as Chelsea has off-field problems.

Football Insider reports that Chelsea’s behind-the-scenes personnel believe there won’t be much of a desire to accept their requested asking price in the summer.

According to the report, Chelsea will seek to raise at least £40 million from Gallagher’s sale, therefore any interested parties may be willing to try their luck with a lower offer.

The West Londoners have reportedly demanded £50 million in the past, especially during the last transfer window, but if they want to improve their accounts by June 30th, they may need to reconsider their position.

According to reports, Gallagher is considered “a bargain signing” by supporters of other teams; no clubs have been mentioned, but it is understood that interest in him will be high.

There is still a chance that Gallagher will insist on playing for his childhood team for at least one more season, thereby pressuring Chelsea to offer him a better deal at the negotiation table because the co-owners know they cannot afford to lose him on a free transfer.

Gallagher has been strongly linked to Tottenham Hotspur in the past, but if his contract situation stays the same, they would undoubtedly have competition for his signature.

Up to six players, including Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella, who both started against Leicester on Sunday, are reportedly set to become available for transfers.
