Crystal Palace is allegedly considering acquiring Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah in January.

Mikel Arteta persuaded Nketiah to sign new contracts earlier in his Arsenal career so that he would have competition for Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazil international’s injury problems may have given him more playing time than Nketiah may have anticipated, giving him an opportunity to establish himself.

Despite making 12 starts and 11 substitute appearances across all competitions in 2023–24, Nketiah has only managed six goals this year, three of which came against Sheffield United in the same match.

To his credit, the 24-year-old has had a successful week wearing the Gunners uniform. On Sunday, he assisted in the team’s victory over Brighton & Hove Albion and scored against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

However, there have been rumours that Nketiah would be permitted to leave the Emirates Stadium, if only to bolster Arsenal’s FFP standing.

It remains to be seen if that happens, as in order to locate a suitable successor, Arsenal must first raise the needed transfer amount.

FootballTransfers claims that Palace has already shown their interest in signing the most recent England call-up in January.

Under Roy Hodgson, the Eagles’ season has been uneven; they have only scored 17 goals in as many Premier League games, which is tied for the third-worst return in the league.

That’s despite Palace’s recent 2-1 loss to Liverpool and their thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City on Saturday.

This season, only Odsonne Edouard has scored six goals in the Premier League, though Palace has been hampered by injuries to playmakers Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

According to the source, Arsenal is willing to pay a premium for Nketiah, hence eliminating the chance of their fellow London team receiving a straight loan.

Nketiah could decide to fight for his spot rather than make the quick move to Selhurst Park because he has a contract that expires in 2027 and has been used 23 times this season.
