Prior to their second Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter, the return of South African speedster Anrich Nortje gave the Delhi Capitals a major boost.
Prior to the Delhi team’s matchup with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Anrich Nortje joined the squad.
The Delhi team did not include Anrich Nortje in their opening tournament game against the Punjab Kings.
In South Africa, the fast bowler just returned to competitive cricket. In the upcoming game, the Capitals should be able to choose him.
Over the past year, the Proteas pacer missed a number of significant events, such as South Africa’s home Test series against India and the 2023 ODI World Cup. Nortje was also ruled out of the Pretoria Capitals’ (PC) SA20 2024 season.
After getting invaluable match experience with the Warriors in the CSA T20 Challenge, Nortje joins the IPL. Throughout the competition, he took part in three games and claimed two wickets overall. After a six-month hiatus, the fast bowler with a tearaway returned to competitive cricket.
The South African fast bowler played for Delhi in ten IPL 2023 matches, taking wickets in the same amount of games. Due to persistent injury concerns, he hasn’t played a full season for the team since 2020.
The Delhi Capitals’ four-wicket loss against the Punjab Kings marked a dismal beginning to the IPL 2024 season.
Their captain, Rishabh Pant, made his comeback during the game after missing eighteen months because of injuries he received in an automobile accident.
After rejoining the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant scored 18 runs in their innings off of 13 balls.

After nine wickets were lost, the Delhi side finished with a total of 174 runs. With ease, the Punjab Kings were able to reach the goal in 19.2 overs and win.
In Mullanpur, the Delhi pacers encountered difficulties in their first game. To make matters worse, Ishant Sharma was injured and had to leave the field after bowling just two overs.
Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder, bowled four overs and gave up 52 runs while picking up no wickets.
The team captained by Rishabh Pant will play the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, March 28 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
On March 31, Delhi will play the Chennai Super Kings in Visakhapatnam after their match against Rajasthan.
