Bernd Leno, the goalkeeper for Fulham, has agreed to a new deal that would keep him at the West London team through the summer of 2027.

After moving from Arsenal to Fulham in 2022, Leno signed a deal that included a one-year option to extend.

“I found out about the offer from the club during the last international break, and it didn’t take much time because I think all parties were very comfortable with it,” the shot-stopper stated in an interview with FFCtv.

“I said straight away that I want to stay here even longer, so I’m very happy about that, and about the long-term plans of the club.”I think I have a lot of good years left in me, and with any luck, I can contribute to the Club, the supporters, the team, and all of us at the Club, so we can achieve even greater success.”

Leno played in 36 of Fulham’s 38 Premier League games in the previous campaign, which helped the team cap off in 10th place under Marco Silva.

With 16 appearances in the top division this season, the 31-year-old has maintained his important role.

This season, the German goalkeeper has preserved five clean sheets in the Premier League, including back-to-back shutouts in Fulham’s past two games against Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, which ended in 5-0 wins.

“I’m very happy to announce that Bernd Leno has signed a contract extension tonight with Fulham that will keep him at the club until 2027, with an option for a further year,” Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations Tony Khan continued.

“Everyone at Fulham is aware of the significant impact Bernd has had since joining the team. It’s also a perfect time to announce this extension after our last two games saw two clean sheets and outstanding victory.”

Leno is very much in the running for a position in the Germany squad for Euro 2024, which will be held in his own nation next summer, thanks to his exploits for the West London club.

The former Arsenal player will play Fulham against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday with the opportunity to earn a third straight clean sheet.
