Aleix Garcia, a midfielder for Girona, is allegedly a target for both Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old progressed through Villarreal’s development system before finalising his transfer to Manchester City in the summer of 2015.

The transfer to the Etihad Stadium did not work out, as Garcia left to sign a loan with Girona and Royal Excel Mouscron of Belgium.

Garcia departed Man City in 2020 to play for the Basque team Eibar, then for the Romanian team Dinamo Bucarest, before coming back to Girona for the summer of 2021.

The Spaniard, who had a difficult time locating a place to call home, has found happiness at Montilivi, where he has helped the team finish in the top half of La Liga last season and gain promotion in 2021–2022.

Garcia has made 33 league appearances this season, scoring three goals and dishing out six assists, solidifying his role as a major contributor to Girona’s success.

The midfielder participated in the entire 4-2 victory over Barcelona on Saturday, helping Girona climb up to second place and guarantee their spot in the Champions League the following year.

Garcia may depart the Catalan team before the 2024–25 season, despite the fact that he has helped Girona surpass all expectations this season.

Aston Villa and Bournemouth are reportedly two teams that are thinking about making a move for Garcia during the summer transfer window.

Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, appears eager to bolster his team in anticipation of maybe playing in the Champions League the following year.

Regarding Bournemouth, they may see Garcia as a player who can assist them advance because they established a strong foundation in Andoni Iraola’s debut season.

The midfield player’s deal is expected to run until at least June 2026, and it has a release clause worth between €15 million (£12.9 million) and €20 million (£17.2 million).

While Villa and Bournemouth seem to be the front-runners in the Premier League, several European teams are expected to challenge them.

Bayer Leverkusen, the recent Bundesliga winners, have jumped to the top of the line after reaching out to potential summer transfer partners.

Barcelona had previously been connected to Garcia, but given their current financial circumstances, they might find it difficult to finance the transfer.

The Girona player, who has attracted the interest of Serie A powerhouse AC Milan, may also be offered the opportunity to relocate to Italy.
