Ben Stokes is expected to be released by the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) prior to the IPL 2024 auction.

Stokes has announced that he will not be participating in the 2024 Indian Premier League, citing the necessity to manage his workload following his international commitments.

In the IPL 2023 mini-auction, Stokes was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for an incredible amount of Rs 16.25 crore.

Ben Stokes has formally opted out of the IPL 2024 in order to manage his workload and fitness, according to the MS Dhoni-led team. Despite a demanding schedule that included a 5-Test series in India and the T20 World Cup in June 2024, the franchise expressed support for his decision.

Ben Stokes, the all-rounder and captain of the England Test team, has withdrawn from the IPL 2024 in order to manage his workload and fitness.

The 32-year-old Stokes joined the Super Kings prior to the thrilling 2023 IPL. He recently played in the 2023 ODI World Cup after coming out of retirement.

Ben’s choice to control his workload by having England play a five-Test series in India prior to the Indian Premier League and subsequently the T20 World Cup in June 2024,” CSK’s statement read.

Prior to England’s hectic schedule for the first half of next year, the England Test captain is anticipated to have knee surgery shortly.

The Red Ball Series, which takes place between January 25 and March 11, will see the England national cricket team go to India.

For the December 19 mini-auction in Dubai, the teams must submit their names of players who have been retained and released by November 26.

With Ben Stokes released, the Chennai-based team will have an additional ₹16.25 crore in their coffers.
