Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s 25% acquisition, exiled Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho may receive a lifeline to save his career with the Red Devils.
Ratcliffe is reportedly getting close to purchasing a minority stake from the Glazer family, having engaged in a months-long two-horse bidding war with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Although a few issues need to be resolved before the Premier League approves Ratcliffe’s acquisition, it is anticipated that the 71-year-old will take up his position in the upcoming weeks, possibly even before Christmas.
Upon Ratcliffe’s arrival, Man United’s sporting structure will undergo a substantial overhaul under his direction.
Additionally, the boardroom has already undergone considerable changes, with CEO Richard Arnold resigning.
As Ratcliffe’s plans are implemented by the 20-time English champions, director of football John Murtough is reportedly set to lose his job. Sir Dave Brailsford, a performance director who currently works as director of sport for Nice, will collaborate with the Ineos boss.
The addition of Brailsford, a former British Cycling performance director with expertise in sports psychology, may help salvage Sancho’s seemingly doomed Old Trafford career, according to The Mirror.
The England international has been shunned by the first team since he openly criticised head coach Erik ten Hag for leaving him out of the squad for the team’s 3-1 loss at Arsenal in September.
Ten Hag stated that Sancho’s absence was due to poor training results, but the attacker responded to his manager’s charges by calling himself a “scapegoat” on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter.
Sancho, a former player for Borussia Dortmund, was barred from first-team training and the Man United Carrington complex’s facilities after making a social media post. Since then, he has hardly been seen or heard from.
The 23-year-old’s refusal to offer an apology to Ten Hag, who is steadfast in his stance, has made a January departure seem like the most likely outcome for some time now. All sides believe that this is the best course of action.
Giants of Italy, Juventus, are rumoured to be in the lead for Sancho and are getting ready to start negotiations about a transfer; but, because of his outrageous salary, the Old Lady would only entertain a loan agreement.
Financial demands from Sancho would be easily met by Saudi Arabian teams supported by the Public Investment Fund; nevertheless, the young player who was once a member of Manchester City is said to desire to stay in Europe and may be provided the opportunity to do so at Old Trafford.
In addition to hiring Brailsford, Ratcliffe is also bringing in therapist Steve Peters, who may help the former in his attempts to turn around Sancho’s career, given rumours that Ratcliffe likes to concentrate on developing talent that is native to the area.
Sancho scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 games for Dortmund before signing a £73 million contract with Manchester United in 2021.
However, he has only scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 82 games for the Red Devils.
After missing Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, Ten Hag’s team dropped to seventh place in the Premier League standings after 14 games due to Sancho’s continued absence.
