Jurgen Klopp, the head coach of Liverpool, is said to prefer managing Real Madrid or Barcelona again than taking charge of Germany.

The 56-year-old is scheduled to take a 12-month sabbatical before rejoining the team, and there has been a lot of conjecture about what will happen to him after he steps down as Liverpool’s manager this summer.

Many rumours have stated that Klopp intends to take over as manager of the German national team; however, Football Insider states that he is not interested in the role at this time.

According to reports, Klopp is afraid that his nation won’t be able to win titles anytime soon, thus he intends to return to management in La Liga, most likely with Real Madrid or Barcelona.

In 2001, the German began his coaching career at Mainz 08, where he stayed for seven years until moving on to Borussia Dortmund.

After winning two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup, and most notably making it to the Champions League final in 2012–13, Klopp stayed on at Dortmund for a further seven years.

Along with his incredible success at Liverpool, he has also won the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Champions League, and Premier League.

The Merseyside team is competing in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League this season, and on February 28 they will play Chelsea in the EFL Cup final. The Reds are aiming for four more championships.

Xavi, who announced his resignation as head coach, said that Barcelona needed a “change of direction” and that the team would name a new manager this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti, on the other side, is in charge of Real Madrid. The Italian was been given a new contract that runs through June 2026, so it’s unclear if either position will be open come summertime.

While Barcelona may still win titles in both categories, Ancelotti is hoping to lead La Liga and the Champions League this season.

Xavi’s team is currently 10 points behind Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings. They will play their opening leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Napoli next week.

In the meantime, Real Madrid defeated RB Leipzig 1-0 last week in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal match.
