La Liga: Osasuna vs. Getafe Match Preview, Predictions, Team News, Line-ups
With 22 points from their first 19 games, Osasuna is now ranked 12th in the La Liga standings, while Getafe is ranked 10th, having scored four more points than their rivals in this matchup.
Although Osasuna qualified for the Copa del Rey final and placed seventh in La Liga the previous season, it’s reasonable to argue that they have declined in quality for the 2023–24 campaign.
Los Rojillos, who now sit in 12th place in the table with 22 points after 19 league games with a record of six wins, four draws, and nine losses, have struggled with consistency this season.
Since winning 1-0 against Almeria on January 4, Jagoba Arrasate’s team hasn’t played in the league at all. Instead, they’ve played twice in the Copa del Rey and been in Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup.
After losing 2-0 to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup semifinals, Osasuna defeated Real Sociedad 2-0 on Wednesday night to advance to the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. On January 7, Osasuna defeated Castellon 1-0 in the Copa del Rey last-32 stage.
With only the league to concentrate on this season, the Pamplona-based team will try to defeat Getafe in this weekend’s La Liga match for the first time since February 2014.
Getafe has dominated this matchup in recent years, winning four of their last five games in the top division of Spain, including a 3-2 victory in the rematch earlier this season.
The Deep Blue Ones had placed 15th in their last three La Liga seasons, but they are now sitting in 10th place with 26 points from their 19 games played so far this year thanks to a record of six victories, eight draws, and five losses.
Getafe last played in the league on January 2 and lost 2-0 at home to Rayo Vallecano. Since then, they have played in the Copa del Rey, winning 1-0 at home against Espanyol in the round of 32 and losing 3-1 at home to Sevilla in the competition’s last-16 stage earlier this week.
During the first half of the 2023–24 season, Jose Bordalas’s club were undefeated at home. However, they have since lost consecutive games in front of their own supporters. Nevertheless, the capital team will enter the match with a four-game winning streak.
Getafe has historically finished high in the division, having taken fifth place, so they will undoubtedly be aiming for a top-half finish this season.

Head coach Arrasate will, as of right now, have a full squad available for selection this weekend because Osasuna have no injury concerns.
There will be alterations to the starting lineup from the Copa del Rey match against Real Sociedad; among those expected to return are Sergio Herrera, Iker Munoz, and Moi Gomez.
Ante Budimir, 32, will once again lead the Osasuna line in this weekend’s matchup. The 32-year-old has been in excellent form in La Liga this season, scoring nine goals.
In addition to Damian Suarez, Juanmi Latasa, and Jaime Mata being suspended, Getafe will be without Mauro Arambarri for the entirety of the season due to a significant knee injury.
Mason Greenwood, a forward on loan from Manchester United, is eligible this weekend after being sent off against Rayo in the league the previous time around. The Spanish FA overturned the red card.
Oscar Rodriguez may play in an attacking role if Mata is sidelined, and Enes Unal and Borja Mayoral may play together in the latter third of the field.
Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Areso, Catena, D Garcia, Pena; Moncayola, Munoz, Oroz; Avila, Budimir, M Gomez
Getafe possible starting lineup:
