According to reports, Liverpool intends to speak with Andrew Robertson about a contract during the summer.

Robertson is currently in his sixth season at Anfield and has established himself as one of the greatest left-backs in the history of the team.

In addition to winning a Champions League trophy, a Premier League championship, and a plethora of other domestic awards, Robertson has made 283 appearances across all competitions, contributing 64 assists and nine goals.

Now that he is 29 years old, Robertson’s dislocated shoulder from earlier in the season has forced other contenders to highlight their advantages.

The obvious deputy is Kostas Tsimikas, but Joe Gomez, who is adaptable, and Owen Beck, a young player, have also demonstrated on occasion that they can step in when needed.

When healthy, though, the Scotland international is without a doubt first choice, and Liverpool will not want any other interest to surface.

Theoretically, some long-serving Liverpool players may decide to consider a new challenge before a new manager is appointed in light of Jurgen Klopp’s impending exit.

Since Robertson’s contract expires in 2026, the Merseyside giants will be in a great position to keep him around for at least one more season.

But later in the year, there are intentions to talk about new terms with Robertson, according to Football Insider.

When Liverpool decides on a new manager and sports director, that is supposedly going to be the case, even though any new hires will probably want to retain Robertson in the team.

In the last few weeks, there have been rumours that Robertson might be considered as Bayern Munich’s backup for Alphonso Davies in the event that the Canadian international decides not to sign a contract extension past 2025.

Liverpool is reportedly unconcerned by that interest at the moment, while Bayern is in a position where they need to hire a new head coach for the upcoming campaign.

Robertson’s attention will now be directed toward a busy week on the field, as Liverpool takes on Sparta Prague in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 matchup, followed on March 10 by a potentially crucial Premier League matchup with Manchester City.
