According to reports, Manchester City is interested in Serge Gnabry, a winger for Bayern Munich.

After moving from Werder Bremen to the Allianz Arena in 2017, the 28-year-old has played in 228 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga’s top team, contributing 51 assists and 82 goals.

Along with his 13 medals, Gnabry has won 13 titles with Bayern, including one Champions League, two DFB-Pokals, and five Bundesliga crowns.

The Germany international was a key member of Bayern’s first squad in the previous season, with 12 assists and 17 goals in 47 games. However, he has since had a challenging 2023–24 season, mostly because of injuries.

In all competitions this season, Gnabry—who just recovered from a forearm fracture—has only managed one goal in five starts and five substitute appearances.

According to Bavarian Football Works, Bayern officials are ‘disappointed’ with his performance.

The German powerhouses are reportedly ready to split ways with the winger in the January transfer window, according to Football Transfers via Fichajes. Bayern’s No. 7 had his contract extended in July of last year until the summer of 2026.

According to the report, Man City is considering Gnabry as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his attacking lineup by bringing in a “top-tier” winger.

Though the triple winners have not yet made an official bid for Gnabry, it is thought that the former young player for Arsenal is ready to rejoin the Premier League in his prime.

According to reports, Man City has the money to sign Gnabry, who Bayern values at about €55 million (£47.2 million).

In the summer, Guardiola said goodbye to two wingers, Cole Palmer and Riyad Mahrez, who went on to join Chelsea and Al-Ahli, respectively. Man City was paid a total of almost £75 million for both players.

With Jeremy Doku, a Belgian winger, joining the Citizens for an estimated £55 million from Rennes, they have made a strong start to life at the Etihad Stadium.

In 19 appearances across all competitions, Doku has contributed four goals and six assists.

Other wide possibilities at Guardiola’s disposal include Oscar Bobb, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, and Jack Grealish, who scored in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Gnabry has been linked to more than just Man City; rival Manchester United is rumoured to be planning an offer for the Bayern player in the new year.

Leroy Sane of Bayern, Rafael Leao of AC Milan, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli—who spent four years at the Etihad between 2016 and 2020—have also been linked to a potential move to the Citizens.
