Sofyan Amrabat, a midfield player for Fiorentina on loan, is apparently not going to be permanently signed by Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Before ultimately reaching an agreement to sign the Morocco international on a loan in the closing stages of the transfer window, the Red Devils were connected to Amrabat throughout the majority of the previous summer.

Erik ten Hag is thought to be paying €10 million (£8.6 million) for the loan, with an additional €5 million (£4.3 million) in add-ons, and a purchase option valued at €20 million (£17.1 million).

Amrabat has made 22 appearances for the Red Devils, however he hasn’t been a starter in the Premier League since the middle of December due to his lack of success.

After returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, the 27-year-old has only played 24 minutes of Premier League football. Tuttosport reports that he will not be joining Man United permanently.

According to the source, AC Milan is closely monitoring the situation and has emerged as a strong candidate to sign him in the forthcoming transfer window.

Amrabat moved to Fiorentina in 2020, and since then, he has made 107 appearances for the team across all competitions, with one goal and one assist.

The midfield player is anticipated to go this summer even if he decides not to join Manchester United. His contract with his parent club expires in June 2025.

Amrabat was not used as a substitute in his loan team’s 4-3 FA Cup quarter final victory over Liverpool, and he is not expected to be considered for a start on Saturday night in the Premier League against Brentford.

In an international friendly on Friday night, the midfielder participated for seventy-five minutes as his side defeated Angola 1-0.

This summer, Man United is anticipated to make changes to their midfield, with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro being strongly linked to departures.

Scott McTominay’s future has also been a subject of debate, but it is said that the Scotland international will soon sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

While Mason Mount will look to move past a difficult first season at the club and move past his injury issues, Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo will continue to be key players in the Man United midfield next season.
