A comprehensive report regarding the fitness of star pacer Mohammed Shami was given by the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

He disclosed that later this year, during the home Test series against Bangladesh, the pacer will return for Team India.

Since the end of the ICC World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami has not played. His ankle started to hurt, preventing him from moving since then.

Even though the fast bowler was hurting during the major tournament, he made sure to give the squad his all.

In order to manage his pain and participate in the ICC World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami underwent injections.

He made sure to give it his all and finished the tournament as the top wicket-taker with 24 wickets despite not being fully fit.

Following the tournament, Mohammed Shami rested and didn’t play in the white-ball series against South Africa or the T20I series against Australia.

Although he was included in the Test series squad, he was ruled out of the competition because he was unable to recover in time.

His wound was more severe than anticipated and necessitated surgery. The quick bowler had ankle surgery not too long ago.

Through the social media post, he gave his fans an update, saying that he had a successful operation and will soon be returning.

In the midst of all the rumours over Mohammed Shami’s potential return, BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave a health update on the fast bowler.

He said that following surgery, the pacer returned to India and will play again against Bangladesh.

Jay Shah also provided an update on KL Rahul, who missed the entire series after experiencing quadriceps injury during the opening Test against England.

He added that the batter-keeper had begun his recuperation and only required one injection. In an interview with the media, he said:

“Shami is back in India after his surgery. Shami will probably make his comeback for the home series versus Bangladesh. KL Rahul is at the NCA and has begun his rehabilitation after needing an injection.

Mohammed Shami will be making a comeback in the Test series against Bangladesh, according to Jay Shah, which effectively eliminates the pacer from the T20 World Cup in 2024.

In June, the event will happen in the Caribbean and the United States of America.

The absence of Mohammed Shami from the 2024 T20 World Cup will be devastating to Team India. In the past several World Cups, the fast bowler has been outstanding.

He has performed to the best of his abilities and contributed to the team’s notable victories.

Mohammed Shami will also be absent from the Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2024 campaign. There would be a huge hole left by his absence for GT and the Indian squad.

While it is true that it will be challenging to replace Shami’s calibre of play, both sides have some excellent pacers on their rosters.
