Due to injuries, Sri Lankan left-arm bowler Dilshan Madushanka will not play in the first few games of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
The injury was sustained by Dilshan Madushanka in the second One-Day International of the three-match series against Bangladesh.
After getting hurt in his seventh over, Madushanka was unable to continue bowling and had to leave the field.
Due to a hamstring injury, he will miss the last ODI against Bangladesh and will not be available for selection in the next Test series.
With an economy rate of 5.04 in the series versus Bangladesh, he claimed four wickets. Litton Das was eliminated by him in both games.
Nevertheless, an MRI exam revealed that he was injured, therefore he will miss the next ODI on March 18 and concentrate on his recovery.
“After sustaining an injury during the second ODI, Dilshan Madushanka will return to begin recovery treatment and will not be participating in the current tour.
An MRI study on the player revealed that Madushanka, who left the field while bowling during the second ODI, had sustained a left hamstring injury, according to the statement.
Due to a hamstring injury, Dilshan Madushanka will miss the first several IPL 2024 matches, according to ESPNCricinfo.
With the five-time champions, Madushanka signed a lucrative contract worth Rs 4.6 crore after making a good impression at the 2023 ODI World Cup.
With an average of 25, the left-arm pacer claimed 21 wickets in 9 games, with a best of 5/80.
Due to Madushanka’s injury, the Mumbai Indians’ fast bowling unit is lacking. They do, however, have other options, such as Nuwan Thushara and Jason Behrendorff.
In the IPL 2024, Behrendorff will give the squad a left-arm bowling option to bolster their roster.
The team has experienced a significant boost from Jasprit Bumrah’s return to form after his impressive performances in the most recent Test series.
His collaboration with Gerald Coetzee could further strengthen the bowling unit of the team in preparation for the forthcoming tests.
On Sunday, March 24, MI will play their first IPL 2024 matchup against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
