Pablo Maia, a midfielder for Sao Paulo, has hinted that he intends to join the Premier League at some point in the near future.
The 22-year-old’s potential suitors in the English league are reportedly Fulham, West Ham United, and Arsenal.
As Maia has stated that he ‘dreams of’ playing for a team in the premier league of England, there may be offers made during the summer transfer window.
“I heard about an offer from an English club to Sao Paulo FC, and then another club inquired about a loan deal two windows back,” Maia stated to the Daily Mail.
“Players used to the Champions League and World Cup compete in the Premier League, which is played at the greatest technical and competitive level in the world.
It’s a league that we have as our objective. I watch the games whenever I can and evaluate the performance of players who are similar to me.
“My dreams centre around achieving my objectives in Sao Paulo. I have no doubt that the outstanding work that our team has done as a unit will improve my performance personally.
“If offers come in the middle of the year and are good for the team and for me as a career project, that could happen.”
Maia joined Sao Paulo’s youth program and worked his way up to the main squad in 2022. In 126 games for the team, he has seven goals and three assists to his name.
Although Maia eventually stayed in Brazil, a report around the close of the previous year said that Arsenal was thinking about making a play for him during the January transfer window.
Edu, the sporting director of the North London club, is rumoured to be interested in Maia, and a deal might now happen during the summer market.
Maia’s current terms are set to expire in December 2027, and he inked a new long-term contract with Sao Paulo in April 2023.
The midfield player, who has won the Copa do Brasil and Supercopa do Brasil with his current team, is reportedly available for as cheap as £10 million.
