Timo Werner, a forward for RB Leipzig, is reportedly considering a January transfer back to the Premier League.

At one point, Werner was considered one of the top strikers in European football because of his achievements during his first stint at the Bundesliga giants.

Though he contributed 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 appearances, his reputation suffered despite winning the Champions League during a two-year stay at Chelsea.

Werner was reunited with Leipzig after Chelsea sold him for £25.3 million in 2022, and he can now look back on a successful first season back at the club.

He appeared to be in Marco Rose’s favor with 40 appearances, totaling 16 goals and 6 assists, but it hasn’t worked out.

In the 2023–24 season, Werner has made just 13 appearances overall, sitting on the bench for 234 minutes in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Leipzig has now decided that, should they receive a good offer at the beginning of the year, they are willing to split ways with their club legend, according to 90min.

In 212 appearances throughout two stints with Leipzig, Werner has contributed 113 goals and 47 assists.

West Ham United, Fulham, and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing him.

There are plenty of offensive options for the Hammers, who will probably play in the Europa League after Christmas.

However, David Moyes has occasionally chosen to employ Jarrod Bowen in attack since Danny Ings and Michail Antonio don’t have as much of an impact.

After Aleksandar Mitrovic left in the summer, Fulham is also having trouble scoring goals, and Werner would probably be able to hold down a regular position in Marco Silva’s squad.

Crystal Palace‘s situation can be compared to that of other teams since only Odsonne Edouard has more than three goals in the Premier League in 2023–2024.

Fulham and Palace are reportedly both amenable to loan agreements, while West Ham is reportedly considering their options rather than having Werner as a top target.

Leipzig is in a position where they do not need to sell for a price less than their valuation because of the money they made in the summer from the sales of Josko Gvardiol, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Christopher Nkunku. He is under contract until 2026.
