Leny Yoro, a defender for Lille, is supposedly being pursued by Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United this summer.

The 18-year-old, who has solidified his spot in Lille’s senior squad over the last 18 months, has become one of the continent’s brightest talents.

Yoro has so far this season made 35 appearances in the first team for Les Dogues in all competitions, including 24 starts out of 25 in Ligue 1.

The 6′ 3″ centre back has been a vital member of Paulo Fonseca’s team, which is currently fourth in the French top division, three points out of the Champions League spots.

In his 14 games in defence, the teenager has maintained 14 clean sheets.

Ahead of the summer transfer season, Yoro’s remarkable progress is rumoured to have attracted the attention of several elite European teams, with Chelsea and Man United of the Premier League reportedly showing a keen interest in the young player.

Yoro is apparently being considered by Chelsea as a possible Thiago Silva replacement. Silva, 39, is expected to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

While everything is going on, Man United is said to have deployed scouts to observe Yoro, whose contract with Lille expires in June 2025.

Yoro has also been linked to Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich, but the Daily Mail reports that Real Madrid is reportedly putting up a fierce fight for the defender’s signing.

The article also states that now that David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and captain Nacho Fernandez have all reached their 30s, Florentino Perez, the president of Los Blancos, is looking to add a young defender.

Yoro was originally valued by Lille at over €100 million (£85 million) during the January transfer window; however, that amount is rumoured to have decreased to €60 million (£51 million). Yoro is rumoured to want a move to Real Madrid.

Under manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid has embraced the strategy of bringing in a variety of highly-rated youth players, with some of those players maturing into first-team stars.

Jude Bellingham, a 20-year-old midfielder who joined Los Blancos for £88 million last summer, is the standout newcomer who has pushed his skills to new heights. In 31 games, he has produced 20 goals and nine assists during an amazing first season.

Real Madrid views both 23-year-old Vinicius Junior and 23-year-old Rodrygo as essential first-team attacking assets.

The Spanish powerhouses also highly regard 21-year-old Eduardo Camavinga and 19-year-old Arda Guler, despite the latter’s disappointing injury-plagued debut season at the club after joining from Fenerbahce last summer.

In the meantime, 17-year-old Endrick, a striker who made history last weekend when Brazil defeated England 1-0 in a friendly at Wembley Stadium, will join Real Madrid this summer for a reputed €60 million. Endrick is the youngest men’s player to score an international goal.

In addition, Kylian Mbappe is anticipated to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. The 25-year-old is expected to announce that he is leaving PSG once his contract expires and joining Los Blancos on a free transfer in order to play for France at Euro 2024.
