Union Berlin vs. FC Koln Match Predictions, Fantasy Football Tips, Team News and Line-ups
Union and Koln enter the match with identical points after suffering disappointing away losses the previous weekend.
With one point separating them in the automatic relegation spots, Darmstadt and Mainz are also one point behind the two at 10 points apiece.
Union’s superior goal total is the only thing keeping them out of the relegation playoff spot, although they were shut out 3-0 by Bochum over the weekend.
Given the calibre of players on the team, the Champions League qualifiers from previous season still have a game remaining and should be able to play their way out of problems, but that was a major blow to new manager Nenad Bjelica.
After a disheartening stalemate with 10-man Braga in the Croatian’s first game in charge, they defeated Real Madrid with bravery and defeated Borussia Monchengladbach.
Though they dropped 12 straight games during a 16-game winless stretch, spirits certainly seem higher now that they have recovered from that setback and are no longer in the drop zone.
Additionally, they now take on a team with a stellar record: Union, who have won seven of their ten matches since 2019, are undefeated, albeit they only draw 0-0 in this place in March.
With just 10 goals scored in the Bundesliga through 15 games this season—the fewest in the division—Coln may be in for another low-scoring match.
Although Steffen Baumgart has been able to make his team more difficult to break down, attacking quality has suffered as a result.
Koln has only dropped three of their previous eight games, but they have also drawn four of them, and their lone victory came against Darmstadt, who are currently at the bottom of the table.
After their victory, they were lifted off the bottom, and a tie with Mainz two weeks prior prevented them from being automatically relegated. However, on Sunday, they suffered a defeat at Freiburg.
Prior to Julian Chabot’s departure in the 62nd minute, the game was evenly balanced. Freiburg then took control, scoring their two goals and recording an xG of 4.28.
Their run of only three goals in their last seven games continued with another blank, although two clean sheets at the beginning of December did help them earn four crucial points.

Union left wing-back With a knock, Robin Gosens is questionable for this one, therefore Jerome Roussillon might start in that spot once more.
While Leonardo Bonucci has yet to play under Bjelica in the centre of defence, despite Danilho Doekhi’s absence, Christopher Trimmel will face off against Josip Juranovic for the right to start.
Andras Schafer has been gradually regaining his fitness in midfield after an extended absence, but Aissa Laidouni seems to have lost his spot in the team under the new coach.
Due to Chabot’s red card from the previous weekend, Luca Kilian may start in the back four for Koln in this matchup.
Other than that, the visitors might not have changed much; the only players out are still Sargis Adamyan, Faride Alidou, and Leart Paqarada.
Rasmus Carstensen was replaced by Benno Schmitz during the weekend, but the Genk loanee might start at right back again in this match.
