According to reports, Conor Gallagher is adamant about refusing to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window.
Gallagher, who has had several loans out of the club, is in his second full season as a senior player at Stamford Bridge. During his first season, he was in the team and on the bench.
But under Mauricio Pochettino, the academy product has emerged as a vital player and has worn the captain’s armband multiple times throughout 2023–2024.
With just one game missed due to suspension, the 23-year-old has made 19 starts in the Premier League and is regarded as a vital member of Pochettino’s team because of his intensity and pressing from the middle of the pitch.
But rumours have it that co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have different plans for him as they work to make sure Chelsea abides by FFP rules in the long run.
Gallagher is in a precarious situation with 18 months left on his contract, and it’s been said that Chelsea officials would rather cash in than provide him a new contract.
Due to his connection to the West Londoners’ youth system, Gallagher is reportedly available for a fee of approximately £40 million in January. This amount would be recorded in the books as pure profit.
Even though Tottenham Hotspur is rumoured to be interested, no formal bid has materialised as of yet, but it seems the England international has his own ideas.

The Mirror claims that Gallagher is eager to stay at his boyhood club and isn’t ready to consider leaving in January.
Moreover, he is purported to have demonstrated all signs of prioritising securing a new contract over being willing to comply with the owners’ wishes.
Gallagher has already expressed a wish to remain in his team, and Pochettino has given that desire more weight by acknowledging that it will not be his choice alone.
Trevoh Chalobah, another homegrown player with interest from elsewhere, and Ian Maatsen, who is frequently connected to Borussia Dortmund, are Chelsea’s other alternatives for generating the necessary finances in January.
However, determining their fixed prices for either player would be challenging, as Chelsea is presently negotiating with Dortmund, who seek an initial loan agreement for Maatsen and Chalobah despite their lack of playing time.
