The ECB of England and Wales has officially announced that star pacer Jofra Archer would be going to India with the World Cup team as a backup player.

He will continue his rehabilitation and conditioning regimen alongside the team in India, according to the governing body.

Because Jofra Archer’s elbow injury recurred during the IPL 2023, he was forced to miss the full English summer and was thus disqualified from the ICC World Cup 2023.

He was observed practicing with the team, therefore there was a chance he would make the big event squad.

However, Jofra Archer was ruled unfit to play, thus that didn’t happen. He will still travel to India, though, since the squad will bring him along as a backup.

Luke Wright, an ECB national selector, confirmed the news and said: “Jofra Archer will be going to India with the team. Although he is a reserve, we still need to take care of him and concentrate on his rehabilitation.

Luke Wright also disclosed that Joe Root has been added to England’s team for the first ODI against Ireland in addition to Jofra Archer’s update.

The batter asked the ECB to include him after a terrible performance in a four-match series against New Zealand.

Luke Wright also discussed the late removal of Jason Roy from the ICC World Cup roster. Although Harry Brook was selected for the team, the opening batter still had to deal with the snub. He discussed the choice and emphasized that Roy belonged to the sport’s brutal faction.

We didn’t make this choice lightly. For starting the batting with Jonny Bairstow in the World Cup, we put him down in the first roster. However, things happen in sports, and injuries happen.

“Look, this is the 15 we’re looking to take to the World Cup,” everyone was told. But regrettably, that’s the brutal side of sports, isn’t it? It’s not a pleasant aspect of sport that adjustments must be made.
