Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord is apparently still being pursued by Manchester United, who may make a move for the centre-forward during this summer’s transfer window.
Throughout the 2023–24 season, the 22-year-old has been in outstanding form at Feyenoord, making 22 appearances across all competitions and tallying five assists in addition to 20 goals.
In 16 Eredivisie games, Gimenez has tallied 18 goals and four assists. In four Champions League group stage games, he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
After joining his current team in July 2022 from Cruz Azul, the Mexico international has played for them on 67 occasions, tallying 43 goals and dishing out eight assists.
With a contract with Feyenoord expiring in June 2027, Gimenez’s future is a subject of much discussion. Several teams are thought to be interested in signing him in the forthcoming transfer market.
The clubs that have been linked to the forward are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. It is also said that West Ham has expressed interest in the player.
According to writer Ekrem Konur, Man United are also firmly in the race, with the 20-time English champions poised to be in the market for a new striker this summer.
Rasmus Hojlund, 20, has only scored once in the Premier League since joining the Red Devils from Atalanta BC, despite having six goals in 24 games this season.
The backup forward at Old Trafford is Anthony Martial, but the Frenchman is expected to miss the remainder of the season after becoming ill and injured at the beginning of December.
Although it has been suggested that Man United will look to acquire a new striker in January, it is more probable that the team will hold off on adding a new attacker until the end of the current campaign.
This month, funds have been allocated for the loan of Donny van de Beek to Eintracht Frankfurt and Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund.
But because of Financial Fair Play regulations, the Red Devils have to operate within a tight budget, and the winter market is a challenging time to be in.

Gimenez is valued at more than £87 million by Feyenoord, according to a recent report, however it seems unlikely that any team would be willing to pay that much for the Mexican.
