Regarding the much-discussed Mumbai Indians captaincy in the 2024 Indian Premier League, Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his opinions.

With Hardik Pandya’s return, there is a lot of conjecture surrounding the franchise’s captain.

The all-rounder, who spent two incredibly productive seasons with the Gujarat Titans, completed a spectacular trade to the Mumbai Indians last Sunday, November 26.

While Hardik Pandya has improved his reputation as a skipper following two standout seasons with the Gujarat Titans, Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians have failed to win under his leadership in previous seasons.

He guided the Titans to their first IPL championship in 2022 during their inaugural season.

He led the club to the championship game earlier this year, however they were defeated by Chennai Super Kings.

There are several rumours that Hardik Pandya would take over as the team’s captain before the upcoming IPL season.

Rohit Sharma is expected to be replaced. Ravichandran Ashwin, though, thinks Rohit Sharma is still the best person to guide the Mumbai Indians.

Additionally, he said that the captaincy would not cause any issues for the team because it would have kept everything crystal clear.

Not really (Hardik’s easy decision to take the lead MI?). The frontrunner, Rohit, still has a long way to go.

They may have a progression strategy, in my opinion. It’s appropriate to mention that. They would have provided them both with clarity.

Like CSK, Mumbai is a premier franchise. They would have, in my opinion, maintained open lines of contact.

They would have talked to Rohit as well as Hardik. And they’ll actually carry it out. There’s a sacred space there.

On his YouTube show, Ravichandran Ashwin said to former Indian cricketer S Badrinath, “We don’t know what’s going to happen.”

“They are both devoted, die-hard gamers in my opinion. Five titles is no laughing matter.

Rohit will lift the next title if CSK wins it. Rohit has made great progress. I’ve known him since I was a teenager.

I’m happy for the athletes. It’s encouraging to see teams value their players. He was originally sold for Rs 10 lakh, but now he is a player worth millions of dollars.

One of the most accomplished captains in league history, Rohit Sharma has been captaining the Mumbai Indians since 2013.

With the final one coming in 2020, he has guided the squad to five IPL championships thus far.
